- Trading Emissions is an alternative energy investment company that was set up to take advantage of agreements arising from the Kyoto Protocol. TRE looks to invest in companies that fall under the market mechanisms created by Kyoto to help member countries meet their emission reduction targets.

Is carbon diamond? Trading Emissions (TRE) is almost unique as a listed fund generating returns from carbon trading mechanisms. As an early entrant it is now a market leader in many of its fields. TRE is currently focused on the Kyoto framework instruments and distinguishes itself by involvement in project operations in addition to investment and a track-record of successful projects in some higher-risk areas such as China.
