Research methodology
Edison has significant expertise in analysing companies involved in the biotech, med-tech and diagnostic sub-sectors of the healthcare industry. We have a particular strength in biotech, where our approach combines rigorous financial analysis with detailed scientific appraisal of the merits of individual development programmes and the risks (scientific, regulatory and market) associated with them. We put particular attention on competitive dynamics within therapeutic areas and focus on evaluating the results of clinical trials. Sales projections are usually derived from epidemiologically-based models. We generally value companies on the basis of a risk-adjusted net present value of the cash flows that may be available under (real and hypothetical) licensing deals. As a result, we closely follow industry trends regarding biotech-pharma licensing deals.
